The Position
Roche utilizes a unified Design System to streamline the user interfaces of its digital products and deliver a consistent, harmonized user experience for our customers. The One Design System encompasses all web and mobile applications developed at Roche.
The Opportunity
Our Engineering Team is looking for a talented Mobile Architect who leads the development team to succeed with their delivery being responsible for ensuring the correct design and implementation of cutting-edge user interfaces for mobile applications. You’re bridging the gap between the business and the technology, helping to translate business requirements to the team and vice versa, and communicating technical challenges and limitations to the business. You will become the mentor and technical reference within the team, to help the developers improve their technical skills, provide feedback on their work, and offer advice on career development.
- Drive the technical evolution and architecture of the Design system for mobile devices.
- Participating actively in the creation of the architecture for Mobile Applications consistent with project roadmaps, platform strategies, governance policy, and standards.
- Advising projects on technology and architecture aspects for Mobile Applications User Interfaces.
- Document Mobile Components offering to support the mobile development community in the adoption, implementation, testing and maintenance.
- Work with all Roche clients (project leaders, architects, designers and front-end developers) to establish collaboration, understand their design, technical and functional needs and solve their doubts.
- Champion the adoption of the Design system together with the client and the Usability Engineers across Roche.
- As part of an Agile Release Train Leadership Team you will cooperate with the Product Manager bringing the architecture and technical perspective to product discussions, making sure that technical decisions are taken timely and driving topics such as accessibility.
- Translate business needs into architecture, technical concepts and technical roadmap.
- Sharing the knowledge of the Architecture and technologies with the rest of the development teams and supporting actively good spirit and collaboration within the team and the entire organization using Scrum methodologies.
- Mentor software engineers in mobile development technical matters
Who you are
- You have at least 5 years of real-world experience as a Tech Lead or similar position, and 10 years in the SW Engineering sector for Mobile Applications.
- Expert-level mobile software engineering experience with a track record of 4+ years designing and implementing User Interfaces for native mobile applications in either SwiftUI or Jetpack compose.
- Strong communication, with the ability to explain complex technical problems to non-technical audiences and the ability to translate customer requirements to technical designs
- Experience providing technical leadership for medium to large teams with limited or no guidance from management or senior teammates
- Experience advocating for the domain and influencing the architecture and direction of the product design
- Pro-active communicator with other teams, business stakeholders and other groups in English
- Accountable for decision making and seeks guidance as needed
- Experience collaborating with product managers, UX design leaders, and engineers in an agile development environment
