Our Everest Global Markets (EGM) Operations team is dedicated to achieving excellence in Underwriting Support, Delegated Authority and Credit Control, both internally and with third-party processes and staff.
Reporting into the Head of Operations, Continental Europe, this role will ensure our work aligns with the objectives of our Everest and Operations teams, while guaranteeing our processes and controls are fit for purpose.
This role will based in our Madrid office and will work on a hybrid schedule.
Key Accountabilities
In this role you will be responsible for the following:
- Strategy
- Develop a control strategy to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Proactively identify control gaps and create plans to address them, enhancing our operational effectiveness.
- Regularly update and review this strategy as a foundational tool to support the EGM Head of Operations.
- Audit & Risk Coordination
- Lead EGM Operations risk self-assessments and audits, including governance and the implementation of remedial actions.
- Coordinate and manage the timely and effective closure of audit findings and remediation efforts for EGM and International Operations.
- Contribute to operational training and standards development as needed.
- Control Implementation & Optimization:
- Create and apply internal controls to reduce risks and improve operations.
- Regularly check and adjust controls to ensure compliance and manage risks.
- Ensure controls meet industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Plan for control technology and automation.
- Complaints
- Establish a target operating model for complaints handling, covering resources, processes, policies, and management information.
- Documentation of Controls
- Document all operational controls in a consistent and prioritized manner to support standardization and best practices.
- Keep materials updated with proactive and reactive changes so front-line staff are informed.
- Improve processes to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and enhance effectiveness using feedback and data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure processes meet business needs.
- Continuously identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and risk management.
- Training & Support:
- Work with International Operations Training & Standards to ensure front-line staff understand process and tool changes.
- Reporting:
- Regularly report on the status of process improvements, control implementations, and compliance efforts.
Skills & Experience
You should have:
- A comprehensive understanding of the insurance life cycle, including underwriting, fulfilment, back-end processing, customer service, finance, and claims,
- Experience within an Operations and Operational Change environments
- Knowledgeable in Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance
- A proven track record of driving cross-functional initiatives and enhancing governance frameworks.
- A detailed knowledge of insurance industry standards, regulations, and an understanding of how policies should support
- Demonstrated experience in fostering operational consistency.
- Driven to achieve significant change quickly.
