Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who is passionate about Internet entertainment services, with a profound knowledge of the regulatory and political landscape, in particular of Portugal and also of Spain. You will become part of a Global Public Policy team committed to delivering our vision for a safe, joyful and creative platform. You will be dealing with the most interesting public policy challenges of our time, helping contribute to the success of the company. This role will be based in Madrid, reporting to the Head of Government Relations and Public Policy Southern Europe (SEU), although the primary responsibility will be to support our Portuguese activities. – Build and maintain relationships with government, policymakers and other stakeholders (local industry associations, partners, and NGOs) in particular in Portugal and support also in Spain to represent TikTok’s mission, values, principles and deliver innovative projects around issues important to TikTok and our community of creators; – Identify, monitor, and analyze relevant policy trends, legislative proposals, and issues of importance to the company; – Articulate our policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses, and internal policy meetings; – Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders such as legal, communications, and the policy team on public policy matters to help guide the development of products, services, and policies in particular regarding Portugal and Spain, but also on some Southern Europe ones.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications – 3+ years of experience of public policy and / or government relations and advocacy work; – Keen understanding of the Portuguese and Spanish political systems, environment, institutions and very strong network with policymakers and opinion leaders; – Very strong understanding of public policy issues around data security, privacy, child safety and other tech policy issues; – The ability to work in a dynamic environment and ability to deliver measurable impact; – Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; – Proficiency in English, Portuguese, and Spanish (English is the company’s working language, while Spanish and Portuguese are essential for engaging with government stakeholders in the respective regions) Preferred Qualifications – An educational background in law or public policy is a plus; – Previous experience in the data centre industry and/or tech company is a plus.
