Role Purpose
Responsible for the development, planning, and implementation of engineering projects in the area of fiber/coax passive infrastructure, including transfer to live operations. This role focuses on delivering Vodafone’s European Network Strategy, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and future viability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage engineering projects from conception to live implementation.
- Collect and analyze requirements from internal stakeholders across various Operating Companies (OpCos).
- Develop technical concepts and implement them according to performance, functionality, and deadline expectations.
- Plan project and internal resources effectively.
- Manage, coordinate, and oversee the work of external project staff.
- Design and implement architecture concepts and solutions for fiber optic and coaxial cable networks.
- Plan and set up line architectures including E2E dimensioning for access, feeder lines, and distribution points.
- Develop technical solutions for civil engineering components such as ducts, branching housings, and conduits.
- Optimize and adapt passive fiber infrastructure to ensure long-term performance and profitability.
- Develop technical specifications, guidelines, and testing procedures.
- Conduct qualification and type testing of fiber/coax cables and passive network components.
- Implement lifecycle measures, including performance analysis and optimization.
- Support technical aspects of tenders (RfQs) and assess offers in collaboration with the purchasing department.
- Establish standards for route and cable documentation (e.g. Cramer/GIS).
- Work cross-functionally with internal departments: Engineering, Planning, Deployment, Operations, and Procurement.
- Maintain technical dialogue with suppliers and partners, especially concerning access network technologies.
- Act as a technical advisor in national and international project teams.
What your bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferably Communications Engineering), or a related field; or equivalent professional training with significant experience.
- Solid understanding of fiber and coax communication Technologies (GPON, DOCSIS) and installation Methods
- Strong knowledge in analogue, digital, and optical transmission technology.
- Familiarity with optical measurement tools and line technology.
- Experience with civil and aerial installation methods.
- Proficiency in GIS, and network documentation systems (e.g., Cramer).
- Project management skills with a high level of self-organization.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
Nice to have:
- Fluency in German language
- Deep experience with HFC networks
